The fruit must be harvested at a young stage of development to be edible. But once it has is fully ripened, it is very fibrous. The rough, fibrous texture of a dried loofah makes it an excellent beauty tool, facilitating exfoliation when you use it with a body wash or soap in the shower or bath. We grow loofah on our farm.
